Most doubles tournaments in the 40+ category run year-round. Spring and fall are busy seasons across the US. Mixed league play happens on consistent schedules so you can actually plan your week. And beginner workshops? They fill up fast because people finally have time to commit.
Understanding the formats and what to expect
Structured competitions with bracket play, usually held over a weekend or series of weekdays. Most tournaments have age divisions (40-49, 50-59, 60+) and skill levels. Entry fees cover court time and sometimes awards.
Instructional sessions focused on fundamentals. You'll learn grip, footwork, serve techniques, and basic strategy. Sessions typically run 60-90 minutes and are led by certified instructors.
